Giagu Pattada

The Giagu Knives laboratory is located in Pattada (SS), a symbolic town for the centuries-old production of knives and known worldwide for the “Resolza”, switchblade knife historically used by shepherds. Immersed in the green of its mountains, of its woods, the town is welcoming and characteristic and still today it is the breeding ground of artisans who with skilled hands create so much beauty. Salvatore and Maria Rosaria and their children Adriano and Letizia work with constancy and skill in the characteristic shop in the center of the town, dividing between the design and the realization of the splendid knives and the management of the International Culter Knife Museum, inaugurated in 2011, which boasts a collection of knives from the five continents. Salvatore and Maria Rosaria began in 1986 a path that has brought many successes and continuous reconfirmations. The primary objective was immediately clear, namely to be a knife maker by profession and dedicate himself exclusively to the production of knives. Knowing and repeating the history, the construction features, the materials and the various fields of use have seen the light of historical models such as the fixed blade “Corrinas”, dating back to the late 1700s and today used as kitchen knives, the “Corrinas” switchblade of the early 1800s and the “Resolzas” features of the second half of the 1800s sought after by enthusiasts and collectors for functionality and elegance. In addition, with the constant experimentation of new materials, patented knives with an original and unique design were born in which fossil ivory, filigree, coral, damask etc were used.
The atmosphere that you breathe inside the laboratory is magical, there is a continuous clatter of metal, a scent of horns heated on the fire and shaped by those who know they have in their hands works of art, fine jewellery. Yes, because this is what it is, the knife, even only in its daily use, is no longer a mere work support in the agro-pastoral environment as it once was, but thanks to these artists of forging, tempering and design, you can affirm without any doubt that whoever buys such a tool has a part of history, culture and tradition, in perfect harmony with today’s times. The works conceived in this laboratory have been exhibited and recognized all over the world, we can mention EXA in Brescia, SICAC in Paris, the Artistic Knife Show in Cannes, Espolama in Lugano, Messer in Stuttgart etc. The knowledge of the parents and the contribution of the new generations make this laboratory a certainty in the panorama of world craftsmanship and we are particularly proud to be able to offer some unique pieces from their collection. We invite you to discover with us the masters of the Giagu Pattada laboratory and their wonderful creations.
