Doriana Usai

Doriana Usai lives and works in Assemini, in the province of Cagliari.
Assemini and ceramics are almost a single word, an indissoluble union that hides an ancient past made up of unique traditions and working techniques. Doriana, designer and artistic ceramist, grew up in a family that has been working clay for five generations, transforming it into precious ceramics, from those of daily use to authentic works of art. After training at the art school, she deepened her studies at prestigious courses in Faenza, Montelupo Fiorentino and Deruta, concluding her education with a degree in literature and design at the E-Campus University of Milan. With these experiences, being strong and motivated, she decides to dedicate herself to the family business that she naturally inherits from her father Efisio, a great ceramist. The production of Doriana Usai is very varied, an expert on the lathe, she dedicates herself to the creation of the most different artefacts, from the traditional ones like “La Brocca della Sposa” so called because it is a precious element for young brides, to the artefacts of daily use such as biscuits, hors d’oeuvres and dishes that in the simplicity of the forms always have details designed with taste and elegance. But it is in the artistic ceramics that Doriana has her strong point, lines designed to furnish, embellish and even illuminate spaces, such as the lamps perforated by the splendid play of light. The beautiful artistic bottles, vases, bowls, centrepieces and jewels stand out, where elements of Sardinian tradition meet modern and contemporary design.

We invite you to get to know this refined artist through her creations.
